00:00:18: Welcome to ITB Berlin Travel Hero podcast.
00:00:21: Today we have three hundred seconds with Joachim Marschall, head of Uber for Business in Dach region.
00:00:28: welcome Joachin!
00:00:29: Hi
00:00:29: Derek!
00:00:30: This year's ITB berlin convention you'll be speaking about the end-of effort.
00:00:35: would you like to let us know what this entails?
00:00:38: Yeah a hundred percent dick.
00:00:40: thank you very much for having us.
00:00:41: i'm super pleased to be on the podcast being part of itb.
00:00:45: that sits The end of the effort, that's a really good slogan.
00:00:50: I think when we talk to travel managers finance teams employees and Most certainly when I have all these conversations, there's really one thing that are here more often.
00:01:01: It is the friction that travel can eventually cause people out on their road from place to place in a business trip and it always like you know... Is my policy to do this or that?
00:01:14: So they're a lot of confusion with people traveling And i think its kind natural and sounds very small.
00:01:21: but those frictions, especially when you manage a journey or have late-night travels etc.
00:01:28: give you this exhausting piece.
00:01:31: And what we mean is it's not just a slogan for us, so its really on how can use technology to make things easier?
00:01:38: To support people when they are in the road and having these questions disappear... Is that actually my policy?
00:01:46: So yeah!
00:01:46: For us it isn't only a slogan but something from day-to-day base which makes me happy.
00:01:54: Cool, yeah.
00:01:55: Copy Travel has been around for decades not only at ITB.
00:01:58: so what's actually changing right now?
00:02:00: Yeah I mean when we look back and when i started my tourism let's say time... I studied tourism ...I'm a trained travel agent.
00:02:08: it was truly about the big blocks.
00:02:10: You know, you always have like flights to hotels and this is not different in the B-to-B travel.
00:02:15: Um...you've got a lot of big blogs where it's good for books but really breaks when people are travelling on their first or last mile.
00:02:24: And if we look at data its also how you track this actually.
00:02:28: How do you make ground transportation visible?
00:02:33: policy, and it often creates a lot of unknown information.
00:02:38: It's dark spend or let's say like an unknown span that's put this way?
00:02:43: And I think this is really changing now.
00:02:45: so companies look at mobility as whole ecosystem end to end travel.
00:02:51: what can they do in really provide ease-of use and travel just creating smoother experience?
00:02:57: So i think this change not only the big blocks but more coming back putting people on the road from end to end.
00:03:05: Can you elaborate this a little bit more?
00:03:08: Look, when I travel and have long days it's really about like I don't want to be bothered by the process of paperwork and about like what can i do in what?
00:03:16: not so.
00:03:17: What we're trying to doing where companies are getting better is finding a centralized approach really making everything connected in one centralized approach.
00:03:27: there's less friction shifting from different service providers.
00:03:31: two another service provider, provide an oversight for the travel.
00:03:36: it means comfort control and the same applies to the compliance piece.
00:03:40: So modern policy works is more like an invisible guard rate, right?
00:03:45: You know it's kind of there but you don't need to think about that all time.
00:03:50: and by taking this peace in creating these card rates It really creates a better experience.
00:03:57: Also, this is especially when we come to the rights piece.
00:04:02: So for example... When I'm on the road and need collect all these written receipts or paperwork it kind of adds pressure.
00:04:10: obviously also takes a lot time from me And if i know everything is embedded in one app that can easily use at the fingertip.
00:04:19: compliance is there.
00:04:21: It reduces the stress while traveling.
00:04:24: Ease of use already, we hear a lot about that phrase.
00:04:27: So what is it precisely?
00:04:29: I think its totally underrated to be fair.
00:04:42: services to them for their needs.
00:04:44: so great example is that we see in the workforce is getting younger and younger so we have a lot of chances now entering into work environment.
00:04:53: they are much more open for on-demand services.
00:04:56: They kinda expect this intuitive technology, When we speak about ease of use, it's actually providing exactly that.
00:05:03: Something you eventually know from our app for example the Uber App very well known where to go and what to do on this app.
00:05:12: basically And at the end if this is connected with a business account It really has an end-to-end solution.
00:05:18: You already are super well known to use it.
00:05:21: Its in Ease Of Use For Yourself.
00:05:23: By The Way It Creates Value For The Company As Well.
00:05:26: Sure, Joachim you're one of our guests at the ITB Berlin Convention.
00:05:30: You have once speech as a travel track taking place on March five.
00:05:34: it's a travel station and I had chance to go into your presentation already bit so mentioned in word called Vitality which is usual world but its not usually connected with mobility can explain that.
00:05:45: what do mean this vitality?
00:05:47: Yeah, so Vitality is an interesting thought and I think something we picked up with the many conversations that we had.
00:05:53: With our stakeholders companies and employees alike.
00:05:56: It comes a little bit back to my initial statement, business travel can be quite exhausting.
00:06:00: So you know your late night trips red-eyed flies.
00:06:03: it really Can't be exhausting to some extent.
00:06:06: and if we reduce the friction around that If We get people very easily from A to B or From The airport To The hotel Or From The Hotel Your Business Convention Or Your Office Wherever You Need To Go In Terms Of Business And Really Having A Service That Is At The Fingertip.
00:06:23: There's No stress in a foreign city, In order to understand whether this is the service I would be able To use.
00:06:31: or it's my policy or not.
00:06:33: And by reducing everything on that and just providing A service well known in person world creates a lot of space and time.
00:06:41: And at the end, it protects the energy of the individual.
00:06:43: I think energy is performance –I can only speak for myself if i'm late business trip or get easily to my hotel without a lot friction that I can rest on much more energized in next day.
00:06:54: This is what companies are realizing you know?
00:06:58: The comfort safety reliability.
00:07:01: It create satisfaction not just logistics but how people feel when they're out there.
00:07:08: Yeah, more to be explained on the travel tech track and set the travel stage on March five up from three twenty pm in Hall six one.
00:07:16: In a nutshell why should people join your session?
00:07:18: I think mobility is not a side topic any longer.
00:07:21: It really sits at the intersection of high performance, compliance and sustainability in overall experience.
00:07:27: so i think it's like a three-sixty approach that we are taking an all session.
00:07:30: We go a little bit deeper into how companies actually can move from reactive travel management to more data driven mobility ecosystem.
00:07:39: So yeah if corporates are curious about that then obviously learn a little about Uber for business as well.
00:07:45: feel free to join us.
00:07:47: We are there also with our booth, so yeah come by.
00:07:50: And we're super happy to have the conversation!
00:07:52: Yeah thank you Joachim and see you soon live on stage at ITB Berlin Convention.
00:07:57: I can't wait... So thanks for this.
00:07:59: Thank You very much.
